Job Description

Brand Designer

The Fourth Estate organization is seeking an innovative Brand Designer ready to make their mark on the world. We want someone to drive not only the visual and emotional design of a totally unique brand but the execution of our brand through every touchpoint. We’re looking for someone that can start on a flexible part-time basis and grow with us.

Our ideal Brand Designer has a strong sense of where the world is going culturally and how news, information, and technology will play a key role in its development. We’re especially interested in candidates with deep passion and curiosity for news and journalism

  • Create and defend a strong Fourth Estate brand that is current and culturally relevant to the next generation of news consumers, professionals and members
  • Deliver the Fourth Estate website as the anchor branding for the company. Augment and extend it with landing pages, presentation materials, event experiences and our social media presence.
  • Offer an unique and strong point of view not just on visual and emotional branding design but messaging, copy and the entire brand experience of Fourth Estate
  • Ability to motivate and excite those around you towards a meaningful brand and message
  • Report to Founder and Executive Director
  • A designer with a clear, modern point of view and a portfolio we love
  • A designer who has the right sensibilities, professional and cultural context for the 21st century
  • A designer at the beginning of their career who wants this unique opportunity to put their mark on a meaningful brand used/seen by millions
  • A designer who works fast and is open to feedback and collaboration
  • A designer more comfortable in mobile and responsive as well as print, large format and the old fashioned desktop web
  • A designer with a passion for UX and UI best practices and tools
  • A designer who isn’t necessarily committing code to production, but who has a solid understanding of front end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JS) and responsive design to potentially prototype concepts
